  • Footloose, the Musical at Treasure Coast High School, 7PM
Show starts at 7:30PM. “The Theatre Arts Department of Treasure Coast High School is proud to present Footloose, the musical based on the popular 1984 film. This is the first musical produced at Treasure Coast High School since the school’s opening 10 years ago.

One of the most explosive movie musicals in recent memory bursts onto the live stage with exhilarating results. When Ren and his mother move from Chicago to a small farming town, Ren is prepared for the inevitable adjustment period at his new high school. What he isn't prepared for are the rigorous local edicts, including a ban on dancing instituted by the local preacher, determined to exercise the control over the town's youth that he cannot command in his own home. When the reverend's rebellious daughter sets her sights on Ren, her roughneck boyfriend tries to sabotage Ren's reputation, with many of the locals eager to believe the worst about the new kid. The heartfelt story that emerges is of a father longing for the son he lost and of a young man aching for the father who walked out on him. To the rockin' rhythm of its Oscar and Tony-nominated top 40 score (the soundtrack album reached number one on the Billboard charts and has sold over 15 million copies!) and augmented with dynamic new songs for the stage musical, Footloose celebrates the wisdom of listening to young people and guiding them with a warm heart and an open mind.

The TCHS production is directed by Theatre Teacher and Director, Emily Olson, with choreography by Dance Teacher and Director Amber Salo, and music direction by Amanda Sofia. Footloose stars thirty-four talented students including Christian Gil as Ren, Viviana Sanchez as Ariel, Jaydin Valmyr as Reverend Shaw Moore, Jacqueline Pont as Vi Moore, Marc Perez as Willard, Amaris Duncan as Urleen, and Paige Hunter as Wendy Jo, and Dylan Cottin as Chuck. Many more students serve on the production crew.

Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for adults. Tickets may be purchased at the Treasure Coast High School box office before the performances beginning at 7PM, or you may reserve tickets in advance by e-mailing emily.olson@stlucieschools.org. Seating is general admission. Audiences are advised that this production is rated PG-13.”
