VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY

  • Retired Senior Volunteer Program. "With the holidays quickly approaching, volunteering through the Experience. Works Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) is the perfect gift that keeps on giving. It’s also an opportunity for older individuals to stay engaged, while making a difference in their communities year-round.

Experience Works operates the Corporation of National and Community Service funded program in St Lucie County. A part of Senior Corps, RSVP is America’s largest volunteer network for people 55 and older, with more than 300,000 volunteers impacting communities nationwide. RSVP volunteers choose where they want to volunteer, along with the type of work and number of hours. They also receive insurance for the time they are volunteering and are recognized for their service through annual volunteer appreciation luncheons.

  • The Alzheimer’s Tsunami – Preparing for the Worst at Allegro, 2PM. Alzheimer’s disease – a degenerative brain disease that’s the most common form of dementia and the sixth leading cause of death in the U.S. – affects one in 10 Americans over the age of 65. Characterized by a decline in memory, language, problem-solving and other cognitive skills, it affects a person’s ability to perform everyday activities. There is no known cure.

If you or someone you love is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease or another form of dementia, are you prepared to help them physically, emotionally and financially? We’ve crafted a presentation, “The Alzheimer’s Tsunami: Preparing for the Worst,” to help provide a better understanding of the effects of this debilitating disease. Major seminar themes include:

Dennis has more than 27 years law enforcement experience and is the former lead Defensive Tactics Instructor for the Indian River Criminal Justice Training Institute.
